National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) - UG

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST [ NEET (UG) – 2025 ] will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), as a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [(NEET (UG)] for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions. Similarly, as per Section 14 of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, there shall be a uniform NEET (UG) for admission to undergraduate courses in each of the disciplines i.e. BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses of the Indian System of Medicine in all Medical Institutions governed under this Act. NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to admission to BHMS course as per National Commission for Homeopathy Act, 2020. The languages in which the NEET (UG) 2025 would be conducted are: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. MNS (Military Nursing Service) aspirants seeking admission to BSc Nursing Course being conducted at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals for the year 2025 are required to qualify NEET. The NEET score will be used for shortlisting for selection to the four-year BSc Nursing course.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) - UG, formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is a national level medical entrance examination conducted for medical

aspirants who seek to pursue undergraduate Medical (MBBS), Dental (BDS), AYUSH (BAMS),BUMS, BHMS, and nursing programs from prestigious medical institutions in the country and abroad.

NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET (UG) 2025


  • Educational Qualification(s): A candidate must have passed or be appearing for their 10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognised board with Physics, Biology/Biotechnology, and Chemistry as main subjects.
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for unreserved category and 40% for OBC/SC/ST and PWD categories in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination.

Age Eligibility

  • He/She (Candidate) should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the first year of the undergraduate medical course.
  • In other words, the candidate regardless of category should have been born on or before 31.12.2008.
  • Upper Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for applying to NEET(UG).

Number of Attempts

  • There is no cap on the number of attempts for NEET.
  • Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they wish, provided they meet the educational qualification criteria.

NEET 2025 Exam Pattern

  • NEET is a pen-and-paper-based exam (offline)
  • It consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a single correct answer.
  • The subjects covered are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  • The latest NEET 2025 exam pattern consists of 180 compulsary questions (45 questions each in Physics and Che mistry and 90 questions in Biology).
  • The total duration of the exam is 3 hours (180 minutes).
  • Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, and one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer (negative marking).
